The circular white enamel convex dial signed Mouton A Versailles within the Roman chapter ring, pierced ormolu hour hand and similarly pierced ormolu mean time minute hand, blued steel and gilt sunburst solar hand, blued steel arrowhead hand for the outer calendar ring and counterpoised blued steel sweep centre seconds, the weight driven movement with rectangular plates and indirect drive from two large barrels located at the rear of the movement and mounted on a large removable brass bracket supported on a further brass bracket secured to the backboard, the going train with pin wheel escapement with adjustment to the pallets, maintaining power, outside countwheel strike on bell above, the equation work working via a cam wheel and pulley system in front of the cadrature, the case with detachable plinth with concave moulding beneath rectangular panels to the front and sides, further concave moulding beneath the trunk with unusual ormolu-framed glazed rectangular long doors to either side, the dentil top with later superstructure, the top stamped by the casemaker J. PAFRAT
