A PAIR OF FRENCH GREY-PAINTED WALNUT CONSOLE TABLES
Of Louis XVI style, second half 19th Century
The rectangular bow-fronted and moulded later grey-veined marble top above a frieze carved with scrolls and flowers flanked by crossed cornucopiae and centred by an oval medallion with interlaced 'GM' cyper, above scrolled supports headed by caryatids and elaborately decorated with flowers and foliage, joined by an indented stretcher carved as a lappeted band, with false stamps of 'JACOB', one with paper label Garde-Meuble/Santé Fréres/DÉMÉNAGEURS/PAU/J16/21, the other with remains of same label inscribed J16/22, marble tops with depository labels Pitt & Scott, Paris and paper labels 58 and 59 respectively.
