Lot Essay

After spending his youth in Siberia, N.I. Istselenov studied architecture at the Academy of Arts, and later worked in restoration. In 1920 he moved to Finland where he married M.A. Lagorio, later moving with her to Germany before settling in France. There he worked as an architectural engineer, and painted themes on Russian religious buildings.
