Lot Essay

This jacket is the property of the film's wardrobe mistress, who lent the jacket to Julia Roberts for the scene when William Thackery [Hugh Grant] takes Anna to dinner at his friend's house on his sister's birthday, and their subsequent late night ramble through the streets and gardens of Notting Hill. These scenes contain some of the funniest as well as some of the most poignant moments of the film.
