Number 5, the stained ash chest containing approximately forty tools, most in maker's packaging, list of contents and book of carpentry designs in maker's envelope -- 33in. (84cm.) wide, circa 1930

Lot Essay

According to the contents list, there were originally forty-five items in this chest; of these only one awl, the cork rubber and the screw wrench are no longer present. There are, however, an extra glue-pot, a glue brush and a tin of Nettlefold's assorted cotters. None of the tools appear to have been used.
