EDWARD JULIUS DETMOLD Edward Julius Detmold was born in Putney and was the twin brother of Charles Maurice Detmold (1883-1908). They both studied animal life in the Zoological Gardens and worked in close association on several books. With his sense of composition, vivid imagination and subtle use of colour, Edward Julius went on to become one of the best animal illustrators of his time.
