Details
This is surely one of the greatest collections of 20th century red and white Burgundies ever to have been assembled. There are wines from all the best sites and almost all the great vintages. Virtually every highly-regarded Domaine and merchant are represented.
Mr. Lenoir Josey is obviously a passionate Burgundy lover and connoisseur, particularly of the reds of the Côte de Nuits and the whites of the Côte de Beaune.
The white Burgundies made my jaw drop. Nine vintages each of Montrachet Domaine Ramonet 1978-87 (with some magnums and double-magnums), and also nine vintages of Corton-Charlemagne Coche-Dury, 1987-95. Both of these wines are incredibly difficult to buy. In addition, there are twenty-two other examples of Montrachet (including DRC, Lafon, Thénard and Laguiche), with eighteen Bâtard-Montrachets (Leflaive, Niellon, Verget and the Gagnards), plus 13 Corton-Charlemagnes (Bonneau du Martray, Tollot - Beaut, Latour and Faiveley). There are some of the greatest 1st Growth sites and growers in Meursault (Comtes Lafon, Coche-Dury etc).
The Burgundy enthusiast who wishes to fill gaps in the cellar, start a collection from scratch, or simply indulge him- or herself with some of the region's rarest, most thrilling wines will be hard pressed to decide where to allocate resources.
