Yes, this was the year when Latour picked early, before the rains came. Yes, Latour is unquestionably one of the best wines of the vintage, now beautifully mature. But the rain only seriously affected some late pickers in the Pauillac and Saint-Estèphe districts. Some very good '64s were made almost everywhere else in Bordeaux. It is undeservedly a side-stepped and undervalued vintage. MB
