A Meissen model of a seated monkey
Circa 1735
Modelled by J.G. Kirchner, to the right and turned to the front with pink face and ears and black-streaked and blue-splashed coat holding a fruit in its right hand, seated on a rockwork mound base modelled with waterweeds and moss and enriched in brown, yellow, green and puce (extensive crack through back and shoulder restored, restoration to left wrist and to tufts of hair on forehead, some very slight chipping)
