A collection of material relating to Margot Fonteyn's childhood, including: an early presentation certificate for a Competition in aid of "Sunshine" Homes For Blind Babies, inscribed in black ink to certify that Peggy Hookham gained Honours with 78 marks in Character Dancing at the Semi-final, dated 13th March, 1926; approximately eighty photographs, 1920s-1930s, by various photographers, including a number of duplicate images (some printed later), subjects include: Fonteyn as a baby and child, early performances in Shanghai, with her father and brother Felix, with school friends, largest -- 10x8in. (25.4x20.3cm.); six autographs in an autograph book, including inscriptions from early teachers of the young Peggy Hookham, one page signed and inscribed in blue ink To Peggy, May stardom be your future, Ed Eliroff, Shanghai, 1932; another page signed and inscribed in black ink To Paggy, Trusting your path of life is an easy & successful one, G.
