Lot Essay

Doumet, a native of Toulon, fled to Corsica during the early years of the French Revolution. He remained there for three years before moving to Lisbon, only returning to Toulon in 1806. Two views by Doumet of villas near Toulon were sold at Christie's New York, 28 January 2000, lot 83.
