Lot Essay

The present watercolour shows sailbarges unloading at Chiswick Reach, with Chiswick Eyot to the right and Grove End in the distance. Andrews was a professional engineer, who painted marine subjects and drew for The Illustrated London News and The Graphic. He was elected A.O.W.S. and O.W.S. in 1840 and 1856.
