Lot Essay

With almost identical reeded drum and ball-turned supports, the tables offered here are closely related to a card table documented to Duncan Phyfe by an 1816 bill of sale. Made for James Lefferts Brinckerhoff of New York City, this related card table is listed in Phyfe's bill and, along with a mate, valued at $135 (see Sloane, "A Duncan Phyfe bill and the furniture it documents," Antiques (May 1987), pp. 1106-1113).
