DESSILANI
Many people forget that Northern Piedmont produces great Nebbiolo wines. Tasting the older wines of Dessilani is a quick reminder of the unique and age-worthy wines produced in the Vercelli Province. Nebbiolo's naturally high acidity is accentuated in the area's glacial soils. Gattinara is grown on south facing slopes and produced from a minimum of 90 Nebbiolo and 10 Bonarda. Fara is grown on the right bank of the Sesia River at the south end of the valley bearing the same name. It is composed of 30-50 Nebbiolo, 10-30 Vespolina and up to 40 Bonarda. The wines are grown on slopes of glacial origin. Both Gattinara and Fara benefit from having minerals close to the topsoil and the roots tend to go very deep into the subsoil to search for nutrients. As such, both are at their finest in warm, dry vintages.
All the wines offered in this sale are wines from such years and represent a fine opportunity to acquire wines rarely seen on the market.
