GIUSEPPE QUINTARELLI
Giusseppe Quintarelli is completely dedicated to letting nature play its part in the winemaking process. Allowing each wine to make itself according to the biological engine driving it, the wines are a testament to traditional Valpolicella production. Depth is achieved not only from ripe fruit, the tremendous soil and the drying process, but also from years (seven to ten) of barrel aging. The family has been producing wine at their Monte Ca Planeta vineyard since 1924 and it is clear that the experience has paid dividends. Quintarelli is however not afraid of innovation and has experimented with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. He too has clearly disproven the theory that dried grapes removed the terroir in the final wine, as his wines bear the unique stamp of their origin. In terms of depth and power, the 1983 Recioto Classico Riserva is surely formidable. Its powerful aromas and rich flavours proclaim both the beauty of the region and the stature of Quintarelli.
