Lot Essay

This sauceboat was given as a wedding present to Eleanor and Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1905. It is listed as #171 in Mrs. Roosevelt's wedding present book which is on display at the Franklin D. Roosevelt library, Hyde Park, New York. The sauceboat also appears in a photograph of the dining room at Val-Kill.
