TWO GEORGE III TEA CADDIES
Late 18th Century
The first, a George III sycamore mahogany and marquetry tea caddy, late 18th century, the square hinged lid enclosing a foil-lined interior, the lid inlaid with a conch shell within a oval reserve and the front with a patera within an oval reserve, the edges all with checkered banding, the second, a George III fruitwood tea caddy, late 18th century, the canted rectangular hinged top with turned bone handle enclosing a blue-green cotton-lined interior, above a conforming case, the top and front with central patera oval reserves, with overall tulipwood banding and fruitwood stringing, together with a continental miniature silhouette miniature painting-on-glass of Mendlesohn, 19th century, the bust of the musician depicted in profile within a scalloped border and brass molded oval surround, mounted on a rectangular oak frame
