"First complete edition of this classic work, containing Galilei's observations on the sunspots and his discoveries relating to the rotation of the sun, and that of the earth round its axis. Further, the discovery of the Satellites of Jupiter is described (illustrated with 5 plates). In 1613 two issues were published of the book containing Part I only (up to p. 164), the other including Scheiner's letters. This latter remained unknown to Riccardi, is generally considered to be the rarer of the two, and certainly to be preferred, as it gives us the full story of these celebrated discoveries." (Dawson)
