A German ivory-inlaid walnut and marquetry display-cabinet
Mid 18th Century
The arched moulded rectangular cornice above a frieze centred by a fleur-de-lys and flanked by a flower-head, above a pair of glass- panelled doors enclosing a silk-lined interior with two shelves, the central stile and canted angles inlaid with intertwined C-scrolls and foliate strapwork, the sides inlaid with rectangular panels headed by a strapwork arch, the base with a pair of doors each centred by an ivory figure within a shaped rectangular panel, enclosing a plain interior with a shelf, the sides with cut-cornered panels, on later bracket feet carved with C-scrolls, acanthus and double paw feet, the doors altered, the upper doors with later glazing, the interior of the base previously with two shelves, restorations
