with silk bound shagreen hilt, iron tsuba gilt relief decorated in gilt with a butterfly among flowering leaves, gilt bronze menuki modelled as two karashishi at play, gilt bronze fuchi kashira decorated with foliate branches, the blade with choji hamon, the black lacquer wooden scabbard incised decorated with foliate sprays -- the blade 26½in. (66.6cm.) long approx.
