Details
The history of this great Burgundy Domaine stems from 1450, and it has been in the same family for 19 generations. The Domaine owns 7/10 of the appellation Musigny, with 1/5 of Bonnes Mares.

Musigny Vieilles Vignes Comte Georges de Vogae is a wine of legendary delicacy, complexity and beauty, with Bonnes-Mares being usually more structured, often requiring even more years to reach its peak.

The present head of the family is Elisabeth, Baroness de Ladoucette, the only daughter of the late Comte George de Vog,i, who died in 1987 after running the estate for over 50 years. A dynamic team then took over the management, consisting of vineyard-manager Eric Bourgogne, cellar-master Francois Millet and sales director Jean-Luc Pipin.

We will be greatly honoured by the presence of Jean-Luc Pipin to present a range of the Domaine's greatest, recent vintages and bottlings, on the eve of the auction.

In addition, the estate has consigned 2 cases of 3 magnums of Musigny Vieilles Vignes of each of two recent, superb years: 1991 and the celebrated 1990. These magnums have lain undisturbed at the Domaine since bottling until air freighting to New York explicitly for this sale. Their condition may be considered to be immaculate. A.H.
Musigny, Vieilles Vignes--Vintage 1990
Côte de Nuits, de Vogüé
A great wine, tasted three times in 1998, and always rated outstanding. Medium dark violet color. Aromas of sprinkled graham cracker crust laid over cherry and strawberry pie filling. On the palate hints of earth and wet leaves accent intense, well-extracted, with very fine though still mouth-puckering tannins and a very long finish. Holds great promise. FH
