Lot Essay
The present lot consists of two left wings of altarpieces, the central compositions of which would have depicted the Adoration of the Magi; for intact altarpieces see G. Marlier, Pierre Coeck d'Alost, 1966, pp.117/25, nos.1-12. Marlier attributes the altarpieces to the studios of Jan van Doornicke (circa 1474-after 1518) and his son-in-law Pieter Coecke van Aelst (1502-1550).
