A French ivory lidded tankard
Circa 1880
Of cylindrical shape, the hinged lid surmounted by a putto riding Pegasus, above a rim with masks, the body carved with mythological scenes depicting female and satyr figures, lions and playing putti, flanked to the side by a satyr and female figure handle, on a scrolling foliage base, on four strapwork feet each headed by lion heads
