The domed cover designed with Tokugawa family crests in low-relief gold lacquer and aogai on a nashiji ground, the underside of the lid with a continuation of the design; the interior trays, sides and base also in nashiji, the edges lacquered fundame; fitted with a rounded-rectangular inkstone with edges fundame and the oval copper water dropper set into a copper saucer
