In contemporary giltwood oval frames, inscribed, some indistinctly, some distinctly with the sitters names -- Mrs Norton 1852; Lord Panmore, 1855; 11th Earl of Dalhousie; A H Layard, 1851; and Lady Palmerston 1850; Marquis of Douglas (11th Duke of Hamilton); and Samuel Rogers all inscribed R. On the Thursday one week after the sale, a transfer and administration charge of £18.50 per lot will be payable and a storage charge of £3.20 per lot per day will then come into effect. These charges are payable to Cadogan Tate and are subject to VAT and an insurance surcharge.

Richard Cockle Lucas (1800-1883) joined the Royal Academy School in 1828 under Richard Westmacott.
