Lot Essay

Putney Bridge was rebuilt by Joseph Basiljet, who was responsible for the redevelopment of the Embankment, and was completed in 1886. This watercolour, dated 1860, depicts the old wooden bridge, erected in 1726, before it was pulled down. The view is looking upriver towards Fulham and Old Saints.
