Each with a central tree interspersed with birds and flowers, with a ship in the bottom-right corner and figures in the bottom left-hand corner and base of the tree, with foliate border, constructed from three strips sewn together, in a white-painted frame

Lot Essay

Mezzara were inspired by Indian chintzes of the 18th Century. They were worn by Genoese ladies as an opera cloak.
