Inlaid with feather-banding overall, the broken pedement with urn- finial above the rectangular glazed case enclosing a thermometer and a barometer on an engraved metal plate, inscribed 'S Tagliabue/No 242 Holborn/London', above a long body terminating in a circular moulded and domed base

Lot Essay

There are about twenty recorded late 18th and 19th Century barometer makers named Tagliabue, almost all of them were located around Holborn (N. Goodison, English Barometers 1680-1860, London, 1968, pp. 330-331).
