Inlaid overall with fruitwood lines, the rounded rectangular twin-flap top above a pair of mahogany-lined frieze-drawers, with simulated drawers to the reverse, on rectangular end-supports and square tapering downswept legs, joined by a stretcher, with brass caps and pierced brass castors, the castors engraved 'F. DOBBINS & CO. PATENT BRISTOL', with dealer's label to one drawer for 'FRANK PARTRIDGE WORKS OF ART 26, KING ST. ST. JAMES'S & NEW YORK', with restored breaks to the top of each leg

Lot Essay

The British Library Patent Office has no record of an F. Dobbins & Co. in the list from 1617-1852. It was very expensive to record a Patent and few cabinet-makers could afford which may explain why F. Dobbins & Co. from Bristol is not recorded.
