Lot Essay
John Richardson, 30 High St, Tewkesbury, Glos, is recorded in the Dictionary of English Cabinet-Maker's, 1660-1840, as a chairmaker, between 1813-20. There is also a Richard from Tewkesbury in Gloucester documented in 'Chairmakers listed in Pigot's London and Provincial, New Commercial Directories, 1822-4 and 1828-9', Furniture History, Leeds, 1976, p. 5. who could possibly be the same chairmaker, however it would appear that this is a rare stamp.
