Lot Essay

This is the maquette for The Arch (height: 610 cm.) cast in bronze between 1963 and 1969. Moore executed a carving of this work in travertine marble between 1979 and 1980 (height: 610 cm.) cast in bronze between 1979 and 1980 (height: 580 cm.) which is now in Kensington Gardens, London.
