A GEORGE IV MAHOGANY BREAKFRONT SECRETAIRE-CABINET

The overhanging molded cornice above two pairs of glazed doors enclosing a cream silk-lined interior, each mullion with fruitwood stringing, the base with a secretaire drawer enclosing eight pigeonholes flanked by three cedar-lined satinwood-veneered short drawers above two large drawers faced paired short drawers and with a further short drawer to each side, with Greek-key gilt-tooled black leather writing surface, over a pair of oval-panelled doors enclosing three folio shelves, flanked by similar oval-panelled doors enclosing a range four drawer slides, on a plinth base, with the printed paper label WITH GREAT CARE/From Blowers & Son, Upholsterers/57, & 58 Minster Street, Reading inscribed in faded black ink No. 179 or 180/WM Hale Esq, inscribed in white chalk 3i, lacking drawers, handles possibly later
