A GEORGE III WHITE STATUARY MARBLE AND SICILIAN JASPER CHIMNEYPIECE
Circa 1760-65, with some minor replacements
The stepped shelf with egg-and-dart carved edge on scrolled bracket supports, above a frieze with a central rosette and ribbon-tied grapes and grape leaves, flanked by cornucopiae issuing flowers and fruit above a inner slip of Sicilian jasper with an inner frame of rosette and ribbons and an outer frame of egg-and-dart molding flanked by trophies of flowers and fruits, the right hand section of egg-and-dart moulding and the ribbon and rosette border to the bottom of the frieze replaced, the Sicilian jasper slip with restorations and replacements
