Green stencilled potter's mark for 1869, iron-red stencilled doré mark for 1876, incised marks to cover and foot, probably by Pierre-Adolphe Dammousse
With shallow domed cover and flared button finial, flanked by bracket handles, above the tapering cylindrical body, painted and hand tooled in white slip after the Fontaine fable 'Le Loup et la Cicogne' depicting a crane being out-foxed, enriched with pale-blue glazes within a shell and scroll moulded cartouche suspending rose garlands, the lower body with pendant vines alternating with lappets above shell, on a footed square base applied with floral swags
