Lot Essay

The present lot is made after a Chinese example. A pair of similar Chinese tureens, covers and stands from the Kangxi Period (1662-1722) were sold in our Amsterdam Rooms, on 8 December 1998, lot 52. For another Chinese example, see C.J.A.Jörg, Chinese Ceramics in the Collection of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, 1997, p.263, pl.303.
