4o (201 x 131 mm). 274 leaves. Italic type. Woodcut dolphin and anchor device (Fletcher 5a) on title and verso of last leaf, initial spaces with guide letters. (Minor marginal worming to k1-m8.) Contemporary limp vellum, spine lettered in ink (lacking 2 pairs of fore-edge ties, some rubbing and staining to covers and spine). Provenance: Guidi (ownership inscription on title).
Third edition corrected by the author. In the dedicatory letter to Jean Grolier, Francesco Asulanus thanks Grolier profusely for his generosity, implying that Grolier, a patron of the Aldine press since ca. 1515, helped finance this edition. Adams B-3101; Ahmanson-Murphy 185; Renouard 94.3.
