"Very rare Greek type specimen book" (Schreiber). The book illustrates all three sizes of the Royal greek types ("grecs du roi"), including ligatures, abbreviations, signs, etc. and provides text samples for practice reading by schoolboys. Also included is an article by the noted Greek scholar, Janus Lascaris, on their historical background. These type founts by Claude Garamond date from 1544 on and are still preserved in the Imprimerie Nationale. Renouard 175; Schreiber Estiennes 244.
