Cf. Exhibition Catalogue, The Year One, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 2000, p. 55, pl. 37, for a portrait bust of a Roman matron believed to represent one of Augustus's descendants, Agrippina the Younger, wife of the Emperor Claudius (A.D. 41-54). It is however, more likely to be a private individual wishing to portray herself with the Court hairstyle.
