AN EGYPTIAN PAINTED LIMESTONE STELE
NEW KINGDOM, CIRCA 1200-900 B.C.
Depicting the deceased female, hands upraised in adoration, before an altar of offerings and lotus flower, behind which stand Amun and the goddess, Mut-irt, wearing a double crown and vulture headdress, in the arched recess above the recumbent figures of two jackals, each holding a kherep-sceptre, wedjat-eyes above, on either side of a nefer (happiness, good luck) sign; in the bottom register two lines of hieroglyphs: "the blessed before Osiris, the singer of Khnum, Ta-henty (?) rw, daughter of Nenu-tja (?), whose mother is Neset-nebt..."
