A ROMAN BRONZE VESSEL FOOT IN THE FORM OF A SIREN
ROMAN, CIRCA 1ST-3RD CENTURY A.D.
On lion's paw, with outstretched wings drilled for attachment, 1 3/8 in. (3.7 cm.) high; a pair of bronze appliqué roundels each in the form of a face with wings emerging from the thick curling hair which surrounds the face, studs behind for attachment, mounted, 2nd-3rd Century A.D., 2 3/8 in. (6 cm.) diam. av.; and a small Roman marble head of a female wearing helmet with three couchant lions to the fore, long hair escaping from beneath helmet at the back, the eyes articulated with drilled pupils, 1st-2nd Century A.D., 1¾ in.
