A NEO-ASSYRIAN CHALCEDONY CYLINDER SEAL

In the centre stands the armed storm god, Adad, surrounded by stars, a scabbard at his waist and holding a thunderbolt in one hand, behind is the goddess, Ishtar, similarly armed, surrounded by stars and holding an astral ring in one hand, approaching them is a worshipper, the terminal is a winged solar disc and beneath it an altar on which are set the triangular-headed spade of the god Marduk and the wedge of Nabu, in the field are a rhomb, crescent and an ibex, small edge chips
