signed and dated 'Alfred Fripp 1843' (lower right) and further signed, inscribed and numbered 'Alfred D.Fripp The Bather/No 3' and further inscribed '"The parted flood/Its lovely guest with closing waves received/and every beauty softening, every grace/Flushing a new, a mellow lustre shed;/as shine the lily thro the crystal mild,/Or as the rose amid the morning dust,/Fresh from Aurora's hand, more worthy flows."/Thomson.'
