A pair of Italian parcel-gilt ebonised and pietra dura bookcases
In the Neo-Renaissance Style, Last quarter 19th Century
Decorated overall with an intricate design of shaped and circular marble panels and marble pastilles including verde antico, lapis lazuli, onyx and others, the protruding cornice above a frieze decorated with pietra dura-inlaid panels to the front, above two glazed doors enclosing one adjustable shelf, flanked by square baluster-shaped pilasters, above two lower doors with central raised pietra dura panels of stellar shape, on ring-turned toupie feet and block back feet, one with replacement verde antico panels to the lower doors
