Quarter-Master Joseph Aston was born at Kings Norton, Worcestershire and enlisted in 1808. He served with the Regiment at the bombardment of Antwerp and the attack upon Bergen-op-Zoom in 1814 and was promoted Sergeant in July of that year, in addition to being present in Lieutenant-Colonel Master's Company in the Waterloo Campaign. Promoted to Quarter-Master Sergeant in 1823, he was commissioned as a Quarter-Master in 1833. Aston died in the Tower of London in 1853 and was buried within its precincts with full military honours.
