Lance-Corporal William Thompson, M.M., who was from Woodford Bridge, Essex, was killed in action on 23.3.1918, while serving in 'C' Company, 18th Battalion, Machine Gun Corps. Aged 21 years, he is commemorated on the Pozières Memorial on the Somme.
