A.F.M. London Gazette 1942. Recommendation states 'This N.C.O. has been a Flying Instructor at this School since 13 November 1939. During this period he has carried out his duties conscientiously and efficiently despite the fact that he always wanted to become an operational Pilot. During his period of service at this School he has flown 884 instructional hours by day and 117 instructional hours by night'.

Flight Sergeant Victor Alfred Clouder, A.F.M., was serving in No. 9 Service Flying Training School, No. 23 Group at the time of the above award.
