A German ormolu and porcelain-mounted tulipwood lady's writing desk
In the Louis XV Style, Third quarter 19th Century
Of serpentine outline, the superstructure with a three-quarter galleried top surmounted to each angle by a putto, above a shelf with a central compartment, flanked to either side by four pigeon-holes with four turned baluster finials within an open carved spire on small rounded protruding platforms, above a central recess centred by a porcelain plaque, flanked to either side by an 'S'-shaped block of two drawers, the lower section with a red velvet central writing surface, above an undulating frieze fitted with three drawers decorated with further porcelain plaques, on espagnolette-headed cabriole legs terminating in foliate scrolling sabots, the locks inscribed Ernst Kienle/Stuttgart, the underside with a paper label printed O. N. VILLA
