hexagonally cast in bronze and depicting a scimitar wielded by an arm from a cloud, 'grommet' border with name and naval crown over, finished in blue, white, gold, 'flesh' and other colours -- 20½in. (52cm.)

Lot Essay

A cruiser/carrier, H.M.S. Vindictive was originally named Cavendish but renamed after launch to commemorate her predecessor, a cruiser of 1897, which sank as a blockade ship in 1918 at Ostend.
