An early 19th Century 12in. radius vernier ebony octant by John Davies
the typical 'T' frame with ivory scale divided 2½°- 0°- 100°, vernier with clamp and fine screw adjustment, signed on an ivory plaque in 'T' bar John Davies, three shades, two mirrors and sighting tube, the reverse with note plaque and brass feet (one missing), with fitted stepped keystone case (re-painted) with trade label for Spinelli & Mahier in lid with securing hooks -- 15in.
