A finely built fully planked live steam gas-fired, radio-controlled model of the Thames River Launch Megan
built by J. Shears, with mahogany carvel planking with internal diagonal lagging, the fore, aft decks and floor boards planked in contrasting woods with slatted thwarts, finely cut gratings, aft cockpit with canopy over with buttoned leather seating, helm with instruments and controls, gold-plated rails, hand holds and fittings and finished in varnish. Power plant and control details include horizontal brazed copper twin flue boiler with brass-bound wood lagging and fittings including water and pressure gauges, filler plug, twin safety and mainstop valves with lagged steam line with displacement lubricator to Stuart five-pillar twin-cylinder engine with hand-operated draincocks, radio-controlled Stephenson's link reverse, disc flywheel, lagged exhaust and oil separator, single shaft, four-blade propeller and radio-controlled rudder. Further details include gas tank, two burners, rechargable battery, stainless steel funnel with three-chime whistle, and other details -- 17½ x 72in. (44.5 x 183cm.). Stand, transmitter, gas tank, boiler and gas tank valid to 3.4.99 and 28.6.2000 respectively. Stand and carrying box.
